Located on the main road (B5375) through Appley Bridge, an expanding commuter village on the outskirts of Wigan, the church was built in 1859. It was extended a number of times over the next 50 years. In 1971 a sports hall and other facilities were added when it merged with a neighbouring church and adopted the present name.Whilst still retaining its traditional old village atmosphere, a variety of worship styles are offered. Sunday Worship is at 10.00 a.m. and varies from week to week. The first (and Fifth) Sundays each month feature a traditional style worship. The second Sunday normally includes the celebration of Holy Communion and may also include Baptisms. On the third Sunday the emphasis is on Praise and Prayer - the format varying each month. On the fourth Sunday the uniformed organisations are on Parade for All-Age-Worship. On the first Wednesday each month there is a quieter, meditative, service at 7.30 p.m. There is a Sunday Club, currently for children aged 3-13, each week (except when there is a Parade), starting in church with the congregation, before going to separate activities.Image During the week there are activities for all ages:
